[ Press Releases ] July 2004 The 5th Annual Haldeman / Yuengling Bob Walsh Memorial Classic The Best in Men’s Major Fast-Pitch Softball The 5th Annual Bob Walsh Memorial Classic for Men’s Major Fast-Pitch Softball gets under way this Friday, July 23rd at Patriots Park in Allentown, PA. Scheduled start time is 7:00 pm with Circle Tap of Denmark, Wisconsin pitted against Federal Lock & Safe of Arlington, Virginia. The 9:00 pm game features Broken Bow Spirit of New York and Nebraska taking on Heflin Builders of Ballston Lake, New York. The Lehigh Valley will once again play host to the best teams in the United States that Men’s Major Fast-Pitch has to offer. All (8) teams traveling to this year’s tournament are ranked in the Top 12 in the world by the International Softball Congress (ISC). Rankings are conducted annually by the ISC. Please see the following contingent of teams for this year’s tournament, with their rankings in parentheses:
A general admission 3-day pass is $20.00 with other ticket prices available for one and two days as well. Senior citizens will also receive special pricing for the weekend. Major tournament sponsors for 2004 are Yuengling Brewing Company and Haldeman Ford Lincoln Mercury. Other sponsors include The Lehigh Valley Sports Commission, Sovereign Bank, Target Select, SkyBox Family Sports Grille and the Walsh Foundation. The round robin competition on Saturday wraps up with single elimination play on Sunday with (3) games at 8:30 am, 10:30 am. The tournament championship game will be played at Patriots Park at 1:00 pm. Service Electric Cable TV-2 will televise the championship game live. RCN Cable-TV 4 will televise the championship game via tape delay at 5:00 pm Sunday.
